EFCC Summons Verydarkman, Bobrisky Over Bribery Allegation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has invited a Nigerian popular cross-dresser, Okunoye Idris Olanrewaju famously known as Bobrisky, and social media influencer, and critic, Martins Vincent Otse, well known as VeryDarkMan aka (VDM) over bribery allegation preferred against the operatives of the anti-graft agency.

Ex-convict Idris had alleged in a video promoted by VDM, claimed that some unnamed officers of the EFCC collected the sum of N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges against him.

In a statement on Tuesday, the EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale said the EFCC head, Ola Olukoyede, has gathered a team of investigators to look into this tremendous allegations.

“To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators disinter the alleged bribery allegations".

“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings will be made public accordingly. The Commission is committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration at all times".

Niger Delta Connect recalls that Bobrisky regained freedom from the correction center in Lagos State on August 5, 2024, after he was sentenced to six months imprisonment over naira abuse.

The presiding judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro, in a judgement said; “The act of mutilating the naira notes has become a menace, which has continued to damage the image of the country".

“Enough of people mutilating and tampering with our currencies. It has to stop. His will serve as a deterrent to others.”

The judge, therefore, sentenced Bobrisky to six months imprisonment without an option of fine from the date of his remand.

The acclaimed 'Mummy of Lagos" whom the EFCC prosecuted, was then sentenced to prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

However, in an Instagram post on Wednesday September 25th, 2024 morning, Bobirsky denied ever bribing any EFCC officer to drop money laundering charges against him, saying that he served his jail term.

The controversial social media personality, also described the viral voice recording as fake, stressing that the claim that he was never in prison was false and should be ignored.

“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison. I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information".
