President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Recall that last month, the President had approved Walso-Jack's appointment to replace the outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who is due to retire on August 13, 2024.
The swearing in took place inside the Council Chambers of the State House, just before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
At the brief ceremony, Tinubu said, “You’re stepping into very big shoes, and we pray that God continues to guide you, provide you with wisdom and enhance your integrity to serve this country and the civil service in the most successful way.”
The President while commending the outgoing Head of Service, said, “Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan must be thanked for her exceptional tenure as Head of Service. We thank her for her commitment, duty and loyalty.
“As she steps down, we express our deep gratitude for her unwavering commitment to the service of her country. As we bid farewell to her, we are also here to swear in officially the new Head of Service.”
Walso-Jack, born in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on August 27, 1966, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Lagos and was called to bar in 1987.
She served as Solicitor-General of Bayelsa State and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice .
Her career in the Federal Civil Service commenced at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, where she served as pioneer State Co-ordinator of the Rivers State Office of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
An alumna of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State, the new HoS until her latest appointment, was the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education.
Walson-Jack holds the enviable national honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), awarded to her in recognition of her exemplary public service.
She is married to Hon. Nimisoere Walson-Jack, who hails from Abonnema in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State and they are blessed with two children.
