The Zamfara State Police Command has vehemently condemned the brutal and senseless killing of one of its officers, Halliru Liman, by military personnel attached to Operation Dadarin Daji.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at approximately 10:30 hours, has sent shockwaves throughout the police force and raised serious concerns about the rules of engagement and inter-agency cooperation between the police and military.
According to eyewitnesses, Liman, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Wasagu Division in Kebbi State, was stopped by military personnel at Danmarke area in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, despite identifying himself as a police officer. In a shocking display of aggression, the leader of the military personnel, Hassan, shot Liman in the head, resulting in his instant death.
