Mrs. Priscilla Otti, the wife of the Abia State Governor, has paid the hospital bills of six indigent patients, totaling over N3 million, at the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia.
Mrs. Otti equally assisted above 50 traders at Orie-Ugba market in Umuahia with cash to improve their businesses and noted some others for cash transfer
After presenting the payment proof to the management of Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, the First Lady of Abia emphasized that this gesture is part of her efforts to celebrate the 2024 International Day of Charity which aligns with the Governor Alex Otti-led administration's commitment to enhancing the welfare of the people.
Mrs Otti added that this act, aims to highlight and support charitable causes, with the commitment to giving back and aiding those in need during this global observance of generosity.

At Orie-ugba market in Umuahia, the first lady was warmly greeted by cheering women who sang songs of praise upon her arrival. Addressing the women traders, she expressed her commitment to visiting them as a way to observe the International Day of Charity. She encouraged them to form cooperatives so that the government can support them more effectively, either through financial aid or infrastructure improvements to enhance their businesses.
