Nigerian media personality Rufai Oseni, an Arise TV news anchor who is known for his opinionated personality, has recently shared his thoughts on the issues concerning the EFCC, Bobrisky and VDM,.
He said that he will be surprised if justice is served in the prison saga.
Recall that in an audio conversation made public by activist Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan aka (VDM), it was alleged that Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky aka (Mummy of Lagos), paid N15 million to EFCC to drop charges of money laundering initially made against him and that his slated prison time was spent in a VIP facility instead of prison after he was sentenced to six months for abuse of naira note.
Upon getting a grip of this gist, The House of Representatives got involved and has summoned the EFCC Chairman, Nigerian Correctional Service Controller General, Bobrisky, VDM, and all officers involved in the prosecution of Bobrisky.
In the letter dated 27th September 2024, the committee asked for the presence of the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukayode, and the Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, today, September 30th, 2024, alongside all officers involved in the allegation.
Reacting to the issue, the TV personality shared a mood-dampening remark on his official Twitter page on September 29th, 2024, he stated his expectations and concerns about the recent matter between Bobrisky, Verydarkman, EFCC and prison officials. He mentioned that he hopes all of this will not end in 'social media clout' and 'defamation suits here and there'.
According to his Twitter post, Rufai seemed to have lost hope in the country's justice system, revealing that he would be shocked to see justice served over the matter.
‘’I will be surprised if justice is done in this prison saga, when Fisayo Soyombo made revelations about the prison, nothing was done, many petitions on the prison by been sent to the authorities in the past but nothing has been done. I just hope it will not end in social media clout and defamation suits here and there, and the real issues will not be solved, vested interest is the problem of Nigeria, we are not ready to fight the ills of society”.
