Nigerian Afrobeat star Burna Boy has addressed claims made by socialite Sophia Egbueje, who alleged that he broke a promise to buy her a Lamborghini following their intimate encounter. The controversy began when a leaked audio recording surfaced, in which Egbueje detailed her frustration over Burna Boy’s failure to fulfill his alleged pledge of gifting her the luxury car.
According to Egbueje, she was persuaded to engage with Burna Boy through the influence of mutual friends, including influencer Ama Reginald and King Manny. She claimed they assured her that Burna Boy was known for showering women with extravagant gifts. However, after waiting in vain for the promised Lamborghini, she eventually blocked the artist and decided to purchase the vehicle herself.
In response to the allegations, Burna Boy took to Instagram on February 28, 2025, posting a video on his Story in which he lightheartedly dismissed the situation. While announcing his arrival in Kenya, he humorously sang, “I no buy Lambo, is that why you are shouting? seemingly downplaying Egbueje’s accusations.
The leaked audio also implicated Ama Reginald, whom Egbueje accused of playing a key role in encouraging her involvement with Burna Boy. She reportedly cited Burna Boy’s history of lavish spending on women, referencing his previous gift of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan to ex-girlfriend Stefflon Don. Furthermore, she claimed that Burna Boy gifted a similar luxury watch to American singer Chloe Bailey shortly after Bailey purchased one herself, deepening her feelings of betrayal.
So far, neither Burna Boy nor Ama Reginald has issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
