Chima Udoye, a vocalist, emerged as the winner of this year's edition on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
After months of battling against some of Nigeria's top singers and vocalists for the ninth season of Nigerian Idol, Chima emerged victorious.
Chima, known for his onstage charisma and vocal skill, has consistently left the judges - 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani - stunned with each performance.
During the finale performances, Omawumi mentioned that Chima was competing against himself, which is a genuine tribute to how his progress in the program demonstrates how much he is capable of outside of the competition.
Chima, who specializes in jazz and soul music, stated at the start of the program that he wanted to use the Nigerian Idol platform to encourage people while also showcasing his vocal prowess. After 12 weeks, he is named the winner.
During her statement during the finale, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content & Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, congratulated Chima on his victory while emphasizing his perseverance in reaching this point.
After a night of live performances from vocal powerhouses and artists such as Simi, Chike, and Victory Gbakara, Nigerian Idol S8 winner Chima was presented with a cash reward of ₦30 million, a brand new SUV, DStv Explora, and a one-year premium membership.
The grand prize is also topped off with a music deal along with a music video.
