Claims On N700M Torches, Hilux Misleading - Diri's Aide

Ogidi Ben Bara, Technical Assistant on General Duties to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, has blasted recent reports circulating on social media, calling them “fake news and desperate propaganda” spread by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

The alleged controversial reports that has been making rounds on social media throughout yesterday says that Governor Diri’s administration allocated N700 million to buy just 50 torches and 100 walkie-talkies for a local vigilante group, the Bayelsa Community Safety Corps. They also claimed the government approved N4.6 billion for 20 Hilux vehicles and SUVs, as well as another N1.2 billion for printing machines. Bara described these accusations as “beer parlour gossip”, fueled by “bitter and failed politicians.”

Bara assured the people of Bayelsa that Governor Diri remains laser-focused on human capital development, infrastructure growth, and economic progress, urging them to ignore the false narratives.

“There is a paradigm shift in transparency and good governance under Governor Diri’s leadership,” Bara stated. “His budgetary discipline, clear project priorities, and robust institutional frameworks have earned him the trust of Bayelsans—and a second term as governor.”

In response to the allegations, Bara announced that young Bayelsans will soon tour key projects launched under Diri’s “Prosperity Government” to showcase the administration’s achievements and dispel the false claims being circulated by critics.

“These projects are testaments to the governor’s vision and hard work. The tour will expose the giant strides of the Diri-led administration, proving that the accusations are nothing more than baseless attacks from detractors and political adversaries,” he said.

Bara further praised Governor Diri’s humility, focus, and peaceful disposition, likening him to a dove, symbolizing peace and unity. He emphasized that the governor’s tenure has ushered in peace and tranquility, transforming Bayelsa’s political narrative.

“From day one, Governor Diri came with a clear vision to restore peace and security in Bayelsa. His commitment to unity and development has been unwavering,” Bara declared. “He’s not just a leader but a grateful servant to the people, and his credentials as a man of peace are well-known.”

Concluding his statement, Bara vowed that Governor Diri will remain focused on the state’s progress despite the opposition’s attempts to distract and derail his administration. “This government will continue to prioritize peace, unity, and the well-being of Bayelsa,” he affirmed.

Bara insisted that the Prosperity Government’s achievements will speak for themselves, urging Bayelsans to remain steadfast and trust in the governor’s leadership.
