Dbanj Opens Up On MoHits Reunion With Don Jazzy, Others

Nigerian music icon, entrepreneur, and former MoHits Records co-founder, Dapo Oyebanji, popularly known as Dbanj, has reassured fans that a reunion with his former collaborator, Don Jazzy, is on the horizon.

In an interview with Dbanj, he confirmed that he and Don Jazzy would work together again, emphasizing that the timing must be perfect.

“The trailer of my album last year featured Don Jazzy. We know the people want this collaboration, and we are going to give it to them. It’s all about the right timing, and there’s no better time than now. You will see a lot happening, not just in Nigeria but globally. This is bigger than a MoHits reunion, it’s about celebrating Afrobeats as a whole,” he said.

Beyond music, Dbanj has been deeply involved in talent development through his CREAM platform, which aims to support emerging artists. He recently announced that popular comedian and singer, Nasboi, has joined the platform as an ambassador. Explaining his choice, he stated, that Nasboi is the perfect example of what CREAM represents. He started as a musician back in 2008 but didnt get a breakthrough. Instead of giving up, he evolved into a comedian and skit maker, which gave him the visibility to return to his first passionate music. He built his career independently, and that’s exactly what CREAM is about: providing a platform where talents can grow, connect, and discover themselves.

Dbanj also spoke about the success story of singer Berri Tiga, another product of the CREAM platform. “Berri Tiga uploaded his song on our platform when he was just 17. Today, he is one of our biggest success stories,” he said, highlighting the impact of his initiative in nurturing young talent.

Reflecting on his journey as a tech entrepreneur, Dbanj admitted that the transition from music to technology has been challenging.

“It has been very tough, I won’t lie. I’ve always been passionate about the business side of things, and I’ve worked hard to integrate it into my career. People forget that music itself is a business, and while it can open doors, what you do once inside is what truly matters,” he explained.

He acknowledged the challenges of the tech world but remained steadfast in his mission. “Being a tech entrepreneur in today’s world is not easy, but I’m grateful for the path God has placed me on. My vision remains clear, I want to create a platform that is accessible to everyone. Celebrating 21 years in the industry, I understand the struggles I went through, and if I can make the journey easier for the next generation, I will. That’s exactly why I built CREAM,” he said.

To bring this vision to life, Dbanj revealed that he had to return to school, assemble a strong tech team, and secure reliable partners. Collaboration is the new competition. I didn’t get here alone; I have amazing partners that I work with,” he added.

On the music front, Dbanj promised more collaborations and an upcoming deluxe version of his last album. “I’m grateful that my fans embraced my last album. The plan is to release a deluxe version, and I’ve had many requests to remix some of my older songs. I will also be selecting talents from CREAM to collaborate on the album,” he revealed.

With his eyes set on both music and technology, Dbanj remains committed to evolving as an artist and entrepreneur while contributing to the growth of Afrobeats on a global scale.
