Edo 2024: Protect Your Votes -Otti Tells LP Supporters

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has pledged that the votes of Edo State electorate will be safeguarded and protected from any theft in the forthcoming Edo State Governorship Election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

Otti made the statement on Thursday in Benin, the Edo state capital, while rallying support for Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate in the election.

He urged the people to support the party as seen in Abia's last governorship elections, stressing the significance of the upcoming vote and the need to ensure votes are safeguarded.

“I’m here to appeal to you all, our people. I told Olumide that there’s no need to preach to those already converted. We’ve won you over, so now it’s time to reach out and convert others.”

“This election will make a difference in Edo State. It’s a vote for the people. While we may not have all the guns and ammunition, we have you the people.”

“This election will bring significant change to Edo State. It’s a vote for the people. My advice is to stay at your polling booth after voting and not leave. That’s how we succeeded in Abia State, no one slept for 48 to 72 hours.” Otti said

“I used to tell our people, ‘A rat doesn’t steal when the owner is awake.’

“So, stay vigilant. If it’s about securing votes, we’ll get them; if it’s about winning, we will win. We won’t let anyone undermine our victory.” he added

Senator Darlington Nwokocha, the National Secretary of the party’s caretaker committee, urged the people of the state to support Akpata and not vote for other candidates. He emphasized that doing so would ensure they experience the same democratic benefits currently enjoyed by the people of Abia State.

Nwokocha stated, “The victory is ours, and we must ensure it is delivered on that day. What Abia is enjoying now, Edo State will enjoy as well.”

Previously, Edo State LP governorship candidate Olumide Akpata, while welcoming Abia State Governor Alex Otti to Benin City, explained that Otti’s visit was to encourage the people to vote for him and his running mate, Kadiri Asamah, SAN, rather than addressing the party faithful.
