A former Commissioner for Transportation in Bayelsa State, Grace Ayakpo Ekiotenne, has rejected her appointment as Special Adviser to Governor Douye Diri.
Diri, in a memo, listed 45 persons to be appointed to serve his administration as Special Advisers and Ekiotenne's name was among the list.
But in a letter titled "Rejection of Appointment as Special Adviser" and addressed to the governor, Ekiotenne, who served as the state Commissioner for Transportation in the first term of Diri declined the appointment.
She thanked the governor for considering her worthy but stated that due to personal reasons, she would not be able to accept and function in that capacity as his aide.
The letter reads: "I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for the offer to serve as Special Adviser, conveyed to me by the Secretary to the State Government.
"After careful thought and due to personal commitments and other reasons, I regret to decline this appointment.
"I am honored to have been considered for this role and appreciate the trust you have placed in me.
"I wish you and your government all the best. Thank you again for the offer."
Meanwhile, Governor Diri will, on Thursday, swear in the other Special Advisers at the State Exco Chambers, Government House, Yenagoa.
The are; Hon. Ayibaina Crowther Duba, the immediate past Commissioner for Information, Dr. Pabara Newton Igwele, served as Commissioner for Health in Diri’s first term and Hon. Frank Otele.
Others are; the immediate past Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Hon. Uroupaye Nimizuoa, Barr. Ebiye Waripamo, Dr. Patterson Ogon, Elder Patrick Erasmus, and Hon. Salo Akpoebidei Alamieyeseigha, a former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning
Also on the list are; Hon. Ebitei Tonyon, the immediate past Commissioner for Power, Elder Adolphus Forcados, Chief Kia Ebidoughebofa Nigeria, a former Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government, Dr. Iti Orugbani, a former Commissioner for Culture and Dr. Jonathan Obuebite, a two-time lawmaker and commissioner.
