Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has presented a proposed budget of N429.8 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, prioritizing critical sectors such as education, job creation, infrastructure, and agriculture. The budget, titled the "Budget of Transformation," aims to spur development and enhance the quality of life for the people of Taraba State.
The presentation took place on Monday at the Taraba State House of Assembly in Jalingo. Governor Kefas described the proposed budget as a blueprint for fostering a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for the state.
“This budget represents our unwavering commitment to transforming Taraba into a hub of development and innovation,” Kefas said. “It prioritizes the welfare of our people by focusing on key sectors that will bring lasting change, ensuring that no one is left behind as we work toward sustainable growth.”
Education, agriculture, and infrastructure stand out as the top priorities in the proposed financial plan. The governor stressed that investment in education is critical to equipping the youth with the skills needed to drive the state’s economy. Infrastructure projects, he added, would create jobs, stimulate local businesses, and improve connectivity across the state.
In his welcome address, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, lauded Governor Kefas's leadership, citing significant achievements in construction, remodeling, and reconstruction projects under his administration.
“Governor Kefas has consistently demonstrated a commitment to progress and development. His achievements in critical sectors are evident across the state,” Bonzena said. “This budget aligns with his vision, and we in the 10th Assembly will ensure its timely passage to enable its swift implementation.”
Hon. Nelson Len, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, also expressed support for the proposed budget. He highlighted the legislature's readiness to collaborate with the executive arm to achieve the set objectives.
“As representatives of the people, we are determined to work in synergy with the executive to ensure this budget delivers on its promise of transformation for all Tarabans,” Hon. Len stated.
The "Budget of Transformation" underscores the administration's focus on economic growth and social inclusion. The legislature is expected to expedite its review and approval, ensuring the proposed projects and initiatives are implemented without delay.
