Gov Soludo Promises To Restore Power At Ojukwu Varsity

In a bold move to revitalize the educational infrastructure in Anambra State, Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has pledged to end the 21-year power outage at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Uli Campus.

This announcement came Late Wednesday, during a recent one-day working visit to the campus, where Soludo outlined plans for a comprehensive overhaul aimed at enhancing the academic environment.

The Uli campus, which has long struggled without a stable power supply, will soon witness a transformative intervention, not only for the campus but for the surrounding Uli community.

Gov Soludo emphasized that this initiative aligns with the state's broader commitment to infrastructure development.

"Uli campus is not forgotten," Soludo declared, stressing that the state's development strategy is built on inclusivity, ensuring that no community is left behind.

Soludo’s vision for Uli extends beyond electricity. He promised to implement a digitalization agenda that includes providing internet access and WiFi in key areas across the campus.

Recognizing the importance of technology in modern education, he highlighted the role of digital tools in bridging knowledge gaps.

“Today’s world is about what you can do, not just the certificate you possess,” he stated, underscoring the need for students to be equipped with digital skills.

Another key area of focus for the governor is infrastructure improvement. Soludo revealed plans to construct internal roads within the campus, which will not only improve accessibility but also enhance the overall learning environment. His administration’s emphasis on upgrading educational infrastructure is part of a broader strategy to position Anambra as a leader in educational excellence in Nigeria.

In addition to infrastructural developments, Soludo reaffirmed the state's commitment to human capital development stating; “Education is the future and the foundation of Anambra,” whilst assuring that investments in quality education will benefit both the local population and the state’s global standing.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm from university officials.

Prof. Kate Omenugha, the Acting Vice Chancellor, expressed gratitude for the governor’s support, noting the significant improvements seen, including the successful accreditation of the institution. She also mentioned that several long-standing abandoned projects would soon be revisited, with the potential to transform Uli into a hub of educational excellence.
