Eight persons including a naval rating have been kidnapped in Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state by unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that the kidnappers invaded Classic Point Hotel Ibaka, on Monday night and abducted the victims at gun point.
This is coming few days after the driver and 18 passengers of an AKTC bus leaving Uyo to Port Harcourt, Rivers state were abducted and their whereabout yet to be established.
Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Command, Timfon John, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Uyo.
She said the commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara had led a team of security personnel to the community, expressing hope that the victims would be rescued safely and the offenders brought to book.
According to her, "When the police got the information, Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, led a team of security personnel to the community.
"I can assure you that with that visit by the CP and other strategic approaches normalcy will return."
