Nigerian singer and songwriter Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, professionally known as Ayra Starr has revealed that she has “never fallen in love”.
Recently, the Afrobeat star and Grammy-nominated artist, disclosed a few about her romantic and private life.
Ayra Starr hails from Benin city, but grew up in Lagos Nigeria. Amongst many other talents, she also happens to be a fashion model. The singer has four siblings; two boys and two girls. One of the persons to help her shape her music form a tender age was one of her brothers who happened to be a guitarist.
Even though she’s mostly pictured as a ‘lover girl’, the artist admitted that she has never been in a serious relationship.
The Mavin Records artist, who is a 21 year old music artist, does a blend of Afrobeat, R’n’B, and Afropop. She mentioned how she is now ready to explore love, explaining that her dedication to music since she was 15 has kept her single.
“I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ which was about what love would look like if I was. I am a lover girl deep in my heart, I’m just very strong headed about it”.
“I actually have never been in love, I have been in certain ‘situations’ not ‘situation-ships, but I have never been in a whole committed relationship”.
“I’ve put myself out there and I’ve tried to see what is there, but I don’t think I have had the time. I’ve been working since I was 15, I was modelling, doing university, and now I’m on the road”.
“It’s just been me enjoying myself as a girl. I’m like, let me sing to a cute boy today and I’m looking around because I can”.
Music star artist ,Tems, praised Starr for her dedication and suggested they might work together in the future.
Recall that sometime in June, Tems also disclosed that she also, had never fallen in love and she also discussed her struggle with body dysmorphia when she started her music career.
