In a shocking incident, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu was abducted near her residence in the Arepo area of Ogun State on Friday.
The kidnappers, described as heavily armed, reportedly ambushed her Lexus Jeep as she was about to enter her home. Eyewitnesses revealed that the assailants forcefully dragged her out of the vehicle before whisking her away through a swampy area to an undisclosed location.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, disclosed that a search and rescue operation is already underway. “The Divisional Police Officer has led a team of officers to the scene, combing the swampy bush area for any leads,” Odutola stated.
In addition to the police efforts, local leaders, including the Baales of Warewa and Maaba, have been enlisted to mobilize community security forces to assist in the search, particularly in the riverine areas.
As the authorities work tirelessly to locate the victim and bring her abductors to justice, the alarming attack has sparked widespread concern over the escalating insecurity in the region.
