JUST IN: Gov Fubara Swears In Newly Elected LG Chairmen

In a high-profile ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers on Sunday, October 6, 2024 Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara officially swore in the newly elected chairmen of the state’s 23 local government areas. This follows their landslide victories in Saturday’s Local Government Council elections.

Out of the 23 seats, the Action Peoples Party (APP) dominated the polls, clinching an overwhelming 22 chairmanship positions, while the Action Alliance secured one seat, according to official results declared by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

The event was attended by top political heavyweights, including the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who made a special appearance in solidarity with Governor Fubara.

Governor Fubara congratulated the chairmen on their victories and urged them to get to work immediately, pledging their commitment to delivering on the promises made during their campaigns. Each chairman, accompanied by a guest, is expected to focus on initiatives aimed at boosting development and improving the welfare of their communities.
