PDP Chairman Tasks LGA Executives on Party Cohesion

The People's Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia State, has taken another significant step to strengthen its presence across the state by swearing in the Party chairmen for all the 17 Local Government Areas of the State, following the successful inauguration of its State Working Committee (SWC),members yesterday.


This strategic move aims to expand the party's scope and influence at the grassroots level, reuniting the members for the purpose of returning the Party to winning ways come 2027.


By swearing in these LGA chairmen, the party seeks to consolidate its gains and ensure that its vision and policies are implemented uniformly throughout the state. This is particularly important, giving the party's previous successes.


Speaking shortly after the State Legal Adviser, Barr Kingsley Imaga, administered the Oath of Office on the LGA Party chairmen, the State Party Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, urged the party executives to take charge of their various Local Government Areas and ensure they familiarize with the constitution of the party.


He emphasized that the Local party chairmen should take their responsibilities seriously and effectively managing their localities to achieve profits for the party.


The Party Chairman enjoined the LGA Party officers to ensure robust engagement, securing more membership, resolving issues and as well, uniting and carrying every member along.


Amah stressed that the goal of the party is to come back to power in 2027, adding that the LGA officers should push this agenda with all vigour.


He said the Party has over 4000 officers across the 17 LGAs and 184 wards, urging every hand to be on deck to make the party enjoyable.


"Manage the Party effectively in your locality. Our first assignment is to collectively return our Party back to power. It's a herculean task, but it is achievable. We believe we'll succeed".


He added that the party did well in the last general elections even though it didn't win the governorship, stressing the importance for the party leaders to expand their scope and as well, improve their lot.


"We won in most Local Government Areas, those areas we didn't win, we will put our acts together to ensure we capture them this time.


"The Party is in its new dawn, we will move from family to family, ward to ward, village to village, communities and local government areas to attract more organic members, who will work for the good of the party.


"Our tenure will be divulged of imposition and impunity. The last State Congress held on 3rd November 2024, in Umuahia, further signifies that our party has shifted its engagement and is ready to sustain its democratic ideals, it is known for", Amah stated.


The Party chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Elder Okechukwu Henry Okorie,who doubles as the chairman of the LGA Party chairmen,said he would mobilize other executive in Isuikwuato, going back to the street to recapture those who left the party. He said they have become fishers of men, adding that they would strive to fish more members for the Party.


Also, the Party Chairmen for Isialangwa North and Obingwa Local Government Areas, Elder GOC Nnaji and Ahamefula Egbulefu, respectively, maintained that their areas are still PDP, but pledged to re-strategize and put all expertise in place to record 100 percent victory for the party in the coming general elections.


Hon Chiedozie Igbo, the Umunneochi LGA Party chairman, said he is politically experienced, assuring the party they would deliver on their mandate.


Contributing the State Publicity Secretary, Chief Eric Ikwuagwu, said the newly sworn-in LGA chairmen will play a crucial role in promoting the party's agenda, mobilizing support, and coordinating activities at the local level, adding that their leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that the party's message resonates with the people and that its policies benefit the communities.


Ikwuagwu while, urging the local officers to be at their best, said their inauguration is a testament to the party's commitment to grassroots development and its determination to build a strong, vibrant, and inclusive political structure that benefits all Abians.
