LIGUE 1: Enrique Happy with Team's Form Despite Early Setbacks

Paris St Germain Head coach, Luis Enrique on Monday has revealed that PSV Eindhoven is yet to secure a victory in this season's Champions League, but their strong domestic performance makes them a formidable opponent.

PSV suffered a defeat in their first Champions League match against Juventus and drew at home with Sporting, but they have achieved victory in all nine of their league matches this season while aiming to defend their Eredivisie title, scoring 29 goals in the process.

Speaking to reporters in an interview ahead of Tuesday’s home game against PSV, Luis Enrique said: "I think that with the expanded Champions League format there are lots of teams with very high levels."

"Last season, they were the best team in their country, and they have had an incredible start to the season when you look at the statistics," he added.

The PSG coach anticipates a similar challenge to their recent match, where they secured a 4-2 victory over Strasbourg on Saturday, placing them at the top of the Ligue 1 standings.

"They are a top-level team without doubt. I think it will be similar to the game against Strasbourg," coach Enrique said.

"It will be tough for us because of how they play. They play far away from their goal. They press well and score goals and the two goals they scored were from high pressing.

"The Dutch teams play very good football and PSV know what to do with the ball."

Following their match against PSV, the French side will face Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, but Luis Enrique is focused solely on the Dutch champions for now.

"The next game is always the most important one because that is the one you can control," the Spaniard added.

"With the new format of the Champions League every home game is even more important. That also goes for PSV."

On the other hand, PSG began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Girona but then fell 2-0 to Arsenal. However, the manager is pleased with the overall performance of his team.

"I think we played really well against Girona. I understand that we didn't compete in the way that we wanted against Arsenal but I was pleased with what I saw," Luis Enrique remarked.

"That goes for the whole season."
