Mohamed Salah has hinted his fans that 2024/2025 may be his final season with Liverpool, noting that no discussions have taken place regarding a new contract with the club.
The 32-year-old player disclosed that he has not been contacted by the club's management about extending his stay.
Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017, is reportedly set to have his contract expire next summer.
“I had a good summer, a long time to stay with myself and think positively a bit. This is my last year with the club and I want to enjoy it, Salah said. “I feel I am free to play football – we will see what happens next year.”
Mo’Salah being pressed on whether this would, be his last season on Merseyside, added:
“To be fair I was coming to the game it could be the last time [playing at Old Trafford]. Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts. It is not up to me; it is up to the club.”
The Liverpool forward's remarks are significant, especially since he made similar statements before signing a new contract with the club in July 2022. Repeating this now seems to be a tactic to pressure the club into offering him a new deal, which is clearly within his rights.
Liverpool fans have expressed hopes that the same reoccurs, especially as the Liverpool forward has started the season in such stunning form. He reportedly has three goals and three assists from three Premier League matches.
Commenting on Salah’s comment, Arne Slot said “A lot of ‘if’ but at this moment he is one of ours and I am really happy with him being one of ours and he played really well. I don’t talk about contracts. He was impressive, like the first two games. but if you talk about an individual, you don’t do justice to the other ones.”
According to reports, the contract offers are in the main decision of Liverpool’s chief executive of football, Michael Edwards.
Michael Edwards led the push to sign Mo’Salah from Roma for £36.5 million, and sporting director Richard Hughes.
Meanwhile, Salah scored and provided two assists, for both of Luis Diaz’s goals, in Liverpool’s 3-0 wins away to Manchester United that extended the club’s perfect start to the season.
Salah’s goal takes his tally to 10 in his last seven appearances at Old Trafford, an incredible record at the home of Liverpool’s possibly greatest rivals.
However, Salah mentioned that he was surprised because, they had tendencies of an easy win by a far greater margin of five to six goals.
Mo’Salah stated he had the hunger to do just that. “At half-time I had two assists but I love to score. I had to score”.
