Pastor William Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has urged Nigerians to redirect their steps and gaze up as they seek improved governance.
Kumuyi made the call on Thursday while entertaining questions from journalists on the sidelines of a courtesy visit to the King, Eze Anugwo and Council of Chiefs of Ekpeye Kingdom in Ahoada East Local Government Area of River State, ahead of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi,(GCK) which is scheduled to take place in Ahoada from September 26 to October 1, 2024.
While making reference to #Nationwidehardshipprotest led by many Nigerian Youths in August, the GCK Convener pleaded for their patience and understanding with the government at this time.
He said “I appreciate the courage, the foresight, the vision of our youths, and what everybody wants is what the youths testified about and demanded. We need good governance.
“But, when we’re searching for something, some of us, we look forward, we don’t get it. We look backward to history. We don’t get it. We look sideways at our neighbouring countries. We don’t get the answer. We look forward, we look back, look sideways, we didn’t get what we were looking for, we look up.
Many of us, as we look around, and we don’t get what we were looking for, we forget, we can still look up. When rain does not come from our front, from our back, from the sides, we look up, the rain will come from above. It changes what comes for a nation. We might look forward, look sideways, look back, and don’t get it, we’re looking up from tonight, that change is about to come.”
The Cleric also spoke on the crusade themed, “The Wonders of Change”, while expressing optimism that “it will be incredible, unbelievable, and impossible, as families will be turned around, our nation will be turned around and the nations of the world will feel the impact.”
Meanwhile, Eze Anugwo during Kumuyi’s courtesy visit guaranteed the cleric of his people’s support for the crusade.
“Yes, I stand here to assure you that the Ekpeye ethnic nation is strongly behind you. And I want to also say that we welcome you with all amount of sincerity, with great enthusiasm to ensure that this program you’re holding in Ekpeye land will be successful.
“I want to also assure you, not just receiving you in this palace, we will be partaking in the crusade. We have also agreed to support the crusade.
“We may not be able to announce it here, but I have filtered it to most of your pastors when they came to visit me yesterday that we will make a donation to the crusade, and also make provisions of something that we could use to feed the masses that will come for the crusade. We will do it, and they will whisper to you that we have fulfilled it.”
