As part of her independence Anniversary programme, the Naval Officers' Wives Association NOWA on Monday 30th September distributed palliatives to residents of Okutukutu Community in Bayelsa State.
The Acting NOWA Zonal Coordinator for the Central Naval Command Chapter, Mrs Adeola Soyemi led other NOWA members to perform the palliatives distribution ceremony.
The Acting NOWA Zonal Coordinator for Central Naval Command Chapter, Mrs Adeola Soyemi during the palliative distribution to the beneficiaries which include widows, elderly women, middle-aged women, men, and children of the community said that the gesture is part of the charitable activities of NOWA as enshrined in her mission statement
Adeola Soyemi noted that the organization is out to fulfill her objectives of Promoting love among naval officers’ wives and families, promoting harmony between officers (our husbands) and the community they serve, by giving back to the community.
The Acting Zonal Coordinator of NOWA urged the beneficiaries to see the palliatives as the earnest contribution of NOWA to ease the nation's economic challenges.
She further advised the community to maintain peaceful co-existence with security agencies, especially with the Nigerian Navy.
Adeola Soyemi noted that the Nigerian Navy is committed to promoting peace and unity among host communities and the country and also tasked Nigerians to join hands with the leaders in nation-building.
She appreciated the Flag Officer Commanding CNC, Rear Admiral SJ Bura for his kindness and full support to the Association, noting that the quick response to providing support made it possible for the success of the outreach.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Okutukutu Community, Chief Franklin Akintola extended the deepest appreciation of residents of the community to NOWA, stressing that the gesture further justifies the cordial relationship between the military and the civilian community.
Chief Franklin Akintola also promised that the community would continue to support the Navy by providing a conducive atmosphere in the community.
He further tasked Nigerians to support security agencies with the necessary information to enable them to succeed in their operations across the country.
The Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command was represented at the event by the Command Education Officer, Capt IA Gambo, while the Commander of NNS SOROH was represented by the Executive Officer, Capt MA Kolo.
Also, the NOWA women were accompanied by some members of the Naval Ratings Wives Association (NARAWA), CNC chapter.
