Olajumoke Orisaguna Makes Triumphant Return to Media

A one time face of inspiration, Olajumoke Orisaguna, widely known as the "Lagos bread seller" who captured hearts across Nigeria, has emerged from the shadows of a painful fall from grace.

Her story, once one of meteoric rise, now serves as a powerful narrative of resilience, as she reclaims her place in the public eye, this time in the world of broadcasting.

Jumoke's life took an unexpected turn in 2016 when renowned photographer TY Bello spotted her selling bread on the streets of Lagos and saw her potential as a model. The photoshoot went viral, launching her into national stardom, and she quickly became a symbol of hope and transformation, gracing magazine covers and partnering with top brands.

But this dream-like trajectory came to a halt several years later, as a combination of personal betrayal and financial mismanagement led to her downfall.

In an emotional recounting of her struggles at a recent event, "The Comeback of Olajumoke (Oni Bredi)," Jumoke shared how her former manager took advantage of her naivety, siphoning off earnings from endorsement deals, leaving her broke and isolated. "I lost everything," Jumoke said.

"I had no money, nothing. I started calling people for food."

Despite the betrayal, she found solace in the kindness of those who never abandoned her—chief among them, TY Bello and media entrepreneur Azuka Ogujiuba, who supported her through the toughest period.

Jumoke recalled how Azuka paid her rent, furnished a shop for her, and provided financial assistance to help her care for her children. "Whenever I called Azuka for help, she would provide it, even when she didn’t have much," Jumoke shared. TY Bello also played a crucial role, offering both emotional and financial support.

Despite the deep emotional toll of her ordeal, Jumoke's journey is now turning toward a new chapter. Ogujiuba, recognizing her resilience and potential, introduced her to broadcasting. With the support of Cardinal Foundation's CEO, Mrs. Adedoja Allen, Jumoke is now preparing for a career in media, determined to rebuild her life and inspire others with her story of survival and reinvention.

Through her hardship, Jumoke has learned the importance of surrounding herself with genuine people who have her best interests at heart. With newfound strength, she continues to rebuild, not just her career, but her life, one step at a time.
