Rehabilitated 15-year-old Girl Enrolls In Secondary School

Rehabilitated 15-year-old girl, Miss Chikamso Ekeocha has been enrolled for her secondary school education in Imo State.

Miss Ekeocha was in 2022 reportedly brutalized by her guardian for riding his children's bicycle without his express permission.

Her master (name withheld ) reportedly inflicted severe bodily injuries on her.

It was gathered that the battering attracted the attention of a human rights defender and journalist, Chidiebube Okeoma and his team.

Okeoma and his team raised funds from members of the public to foot her medical expenses and set up a business for Miss Ekeocha's mother.

Okeoma told our correspondent in Owerri that the lass' enrollment at the secondary school was courtesy of a Nigerian woman of Imo State origin who offered her full scholarship.

The journalist further disclosed that the public-spirited lady who prefers to remain anonymous undertook to foot the girl's primary and secondary school education.

According to him, the girl was first enrolled at Primary Four to enable her round up her primary school education having dropped out of school before the brutalization..

Having finished her primary school education, Okeoma disclosed on Monday, October 28, 2024 that Miss Ekeocha has begun her secondary school education.

Okeoma said; " I have enrolled 15 year old Chikamso Ekeocha in secondary school. This is made possible by a compassionate Nigerian woman who preferred to be anonymous. She contacted me while I was campaigning for justice and welfare for the minor and pledged to undertake the cost of her primary and secondary education.

" The scholarship is a full package. The scholarship covers registration fees, school fees, textbooks, exercise books, desk, school uniforms, writing pen and all other fees. We thank this woman for her large heart.

" By the grace of God, Chikamso Ekeocha will grow to become a successful woman. Ours is to guide her on the path of excellence and help her to fulfill her dreams. We want to tell her that humanity is kind not wicked. When she grows she will love humanity and not to hate the society. That is my goal.

Recall that the guardian who brutalized her was arrested and later remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Owerri.
