Sacked Minister Vows Support For Tinubu Despite Dismissal

Following her recent dismissal as Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Uju-Ken Ohanenye has reaffirmed her dedication to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s mission to restore Nigeria.

In a statement shared on her official X.com account (@BarrUjuKennedy) on Saturday, Ohanenye expressed her resolve to "fight alongside" the President, underscoring her unwavering support for his administration's goals.

Despite being relieved of her ministerial duties, Ohanenye remains committed to the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which aims to bring significant socio-economic improvements to Nigeria.

She urged citizens to stay hopeful and assured them that the President is determined to bring positive change to the nation. "This is a test of time, a highly spiritual movement that no human being can stop," she stated. "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is destined to fix Nigeria, and I, Barr Uju Kennedy, will fight alongside him to the last. Let’s be optimistic—Nigeria will be great!"

Her message comes just days after the announcement of her dismissal on October 24, alongside that of several other high-profile ministers, including Minister of Tourism Lola Ade-John, Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, and Minister of Youth Development Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.

The reshuffling, communicated in a statement by Dada Olusegun, the President’s special adviser on social media, also stated the reassignment of ten ministers to new portfolios and the nomination of seven new ministers pending Senate confirmation.

Among the notable appointments, Shehu Dikko was appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission, and Sunday Akin Dare was given the position of Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation.

Furthermore, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was selected as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Jumoke Oduwole was named Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

In a separate letter of appreciation released on Thursday, Ohanenye thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet, describing the experience as both an “honour and privilege” to contribute to Nigeria's development. "I write to express my sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the extraordinary opportunity to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria," she said. "It has been an honour and a privilege to contribute to the development of our nation."
