Sanwo-Olu's Aide, Abdulrahman Lekki, Passes Away

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board, Abdulrahman Lekki, has passed away, marking the end of a career defined by dedication to educational empowerment and community service.

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement on social media platform X.com on Wednesday, 30 October, 2024.

In his message, Tokunbo Wahab expressed profound sadness at Lekki’s passing, writing, “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of a dear friend and brother, Abdulrahman Lekki, #FollowLekki, who served with dedication as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board. His unwavering commitment to empowering countless young minds through education and his deep compassion for the community will be profoundly missed."

Wahab further described Lekki as a "pillar of support, a guiding light, and a friend who brought warmth, humility, and kindness to everyone around him," emphasizing that his legacy would endure in the lives he touched. "Abdulrahman was more than a colleague; he was a pillar of support, a guiding light, and a friend. His legacy will live on in the many lives he inspired to reach their highest potential."

Lekki, known as a skilled life coach with expertise in leadership, change management, personal effectiveness, and financial intelligence, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Fondly referred to as Abu Haneefah Sulayman, Lekki’s burial is scheduled for the Lagos Mainland Muslim Cemetery in Ofada, Ogun State.

In a separate development, the Lagos State Government has denied recent reports alleging that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu initiated legal action against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The earlier reports had claimed that Governor Sanwo-Olu approached the Federal High Court in Abuja to seek an order restraining the EFCC from arresting or prosecuting him at the end of his tenure.

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, issued a statement on Wednesday morning, dismissing the reports as unfounded. The statement clarified that no such legal steps had been taken by the governor or the state government
