Shettima Heads To Sweden For Bilateral Meeting

Vice President Kashim Shettima , has been scheduled to depart Abuja on Wednesday for a two-day visit to Sweden, where he will be engaging in bilateral discussions on behalf of Nigeria.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, the visit is “at the instance of President Bola Tinubu.” He revealed this in a statement he signed on Wednesday titled, ‘VP Shettima embarks on a 2-day visit to Sweden.’

The Vice President will hold high-level bilateral talks with key government officials, including a meeting with Crown Princess Victoria and the Swedish Prime Minister.

“Senator Shettima will use the visit to explore opportunities for strengthened collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden in areas such as ICT, innovation, education, digitalization, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.

“He will meet with key stakeholders in both the Government and Private Sector.

Speaking on the VP’s visit, Nkwocha stated: ”The Vice President will also meet with Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor, which recently launched

Norrsken22, a $205m tech investment fund for Africa.”

The Norrsken22 is a technology growth fund backed by over 30 distinguished unicorn founders. It is joining forces with other entrepreneurs to create Africa's next tech giants.

The meeting with Norrsken is aimed at providing insights into how Nigerian entrepreneurs can benefit from this fund, as well as strengthening the technology ecosystem in Nigeria.

However, 40 percent of Norrsken22's investments are anticipated to be directed toward Nigerian technology entrepreneurs.

“Twelve Nigerian private sector companies doing business with Sweden are going independently as a private sector bloc,” Nkwocha added.

Meanwhile, in Sweden, Shettima is expected to present Nigeria’s economic vision and the reforms implemented by the administration to foster a business-friendly environment for investors, highlighting the opportunities available in Africa’s largest economy.

The Vice President is expected to return to the country on Saturday.
