UNIJOS Students Face Potential Loss Of Studentship

The University of Jos has announced that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is conducting the second phase of it’s screening or condonement exercise for students admitted without proper processing through the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). This follows the completion of the first phase, which focused on candidates without registration numbers.

The institution made this known on Monday, 23 September, 2024 in a statement on their website. The statement which was signed by the Senior Deputy Registrar, who is in charge of Information and Publications the university Abdullahi Abdullahi stated that the exercise targets students admitted between 2017 and 2020 with JAMB registration numbers but were not processed through CAPS. These students must be disclosed by the university through CAPS mail by September 30, 2024. Failure to comply may result in loss of studentship.

“All candidates who have JAMB registration numbers and fall within the 2017-2020 window for the condonement of Undisclosed Illegal Institutional Admissions but had not been included in the earlier declaration made by the institution. The deadline for all these disclosures is 30th September, 2024, after which no declaration will be entertained”.

JAMB emphasizes that only students listed in the declared submissions will be permitted to register with the Board. This measure aims to address previously abused admission windows, reaffirming JAMB CAPS as the sole authorized platform for admissions.

Affected students without JAMB Admission Letters are advised to upload their details on JAMB CAPS immediately. Those with changed courses must formalize their Change of Course by accepting the new course on JAMB CAPS.

“Accordingly, all Students of the University of Jos who do not have JAMB Admission Letters and whose admission status falls within the above mentioned categories and period, are strongly advised to immediately log on to the JAMB CAPS and upload their details for processing”.

The University of Jos has specified requirements for eligibility in the 2023/2024 academic session, including minimum cut-off marks for various faculties and programs. Prospective students must also meet JAMB's 'O' level requirements and upload their results to the JAMB portal.

In related news, some Nigerian universities offer admission without JAMB scores through diploma programs, direct entry admissions, and international qualifications recognition. These alternatives provide opportunities for students who face challenges with the JAMB exam.

To stay updated on the latest university news and admission requirements, students are encouraged to visit the University of Jos portal and JAMB's official website.

In conclusion, University of Jos students affected by the JAMB condonement exercise should take immediate action to correct their registration status and avoid potential loss of studentship.

“Similarly, Students whose Courses were changed from the initial Courses they applied for are to formalize their Change of Course by clicking on the ‘ACCEPT’ option on the JAMB CAPS. Please, note that all affected Students who fail to comply stand the risk of losing their Studentship”.
