We'll Create 5000 Jobs in 100 Days - Okpebholo

The campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stormed the Edo Central and Edo North senatorial districts, appealing to the people to vote for the party and the candidate to remove the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate in Esan North East Local Government Area, addressed the people of Esanland during the campaign rally held in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, urging them to support and vote for him on election day, stating that the APC can address the problems of the people.

The APC governorship candidate expressed disappointment in the state’s debt profile, stating that it was over N573 billion from the inherited N43 billion.

He alleged that the Obaseki-led government had an unprecedented level of corruption.

Okpebholo requested that the people of the state refrain from allowing the looting of public funds that is a part of Obaseki’s third-term plan, which is being carried out using his godson, Asue Ighodalo.

“In Edo State, do you know the debt profile of the state at the moment is over N573 billion. That is what the Edo State Government is owing now.

“During Adams Oshiomhole period, monthly allocation from the Federation Account was between N3.1 billion and N3.3 billion but today the allocation is about N11.1 billion and the Edo State Government has nothing to show for it.''

The APC governorship hopeful encouraged citizens to utilize their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to retaliate against the PDP and its candidate. He stated that ‘We will take revenge with our votes on September 21, 2024, which is almost a month from now.” Okpebholo said.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former Governorship candidate of the party, spoke at the rally, stating that the rally represents positive things to come and the end of the PDP in the state and the government of Obaseki.

He stated that the Obaseki administration, where Asue Ighodalo served as the Economic Adviser, has caused the state to become indebted.

Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, expressed his belief in Monday Okpebholo as a competent candidate who will take into account the people’s aspirations.

Oshiomhole expressed satisfaction with his support for Okpebholo because he has witnessed his abilities as a colleague and senator.

At the headquarters of the Edo North senatorial district in Auchi, Abubakar Momoh, the Minister for Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) demanded that Edo citizens hold Governor Godwin Obaseki accountable for allegedly stockpiling palliative rice from the federal government that was supposed to benefit the poor in the state.

He claimed that Obaseki retained the rice and packaged it with a label from the Edo State Government and a photograph of Asue Ighodalo.

In his first hundred days in office, Okpebholo pledged to create over 5,000 jobs for the youths in the state as part of his commitment. According to him, development will continue where former Governor Adams Oshiomole stopped.

Oshiomhole made a statement that Governor Godwin Obaseki hired a man who impersonated a voter card to run for governor.

“PDP as a party has no candidate as we talk, the federal high court Abuja has said so. The process that brought Asue Ighodalo in the primaries was also faulted by the federal high court in Abuja, so don’t go and waste your vote"

He claimed that the Edo State Government under Obaseki deceived the World Bank to obtain money for EdoBEST, but there is no evidence of it.

“The World Bank may have been used to collect money, Edo People will not pay, we must tell Obaseki to show where he used the money.”
