Abia Born Nurse Tops General Nursing Exams as Best Student

Onochie Kingsley Kelechi, a nurse from Ohaanze in Obingwa, Abia State, has been named the Overall Best Graduating Student in General Nursing in Nigeria during the November Council examination by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

"I am truly honored to be recognized as the best nursing student among all those who participated in the exams across the 36 states, including the FCT Abuja, this achievement is a significant privilege for me, and it reflects the hard work and dedication of all my fellow students." " Nurse Onochie stated. "

He expressed gratitude to God for guiding him through his journey. He also took a moment to appreciate everyone who had supported him along the way, acknowledging their contributions and encouragement that helped him reach this significant milestone in his life. He mentioned that their support meant the world to him.

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, presented the award on behalf of the Heads of Nursing Institutions of Nigeria. He also extended his congratulations, recognizing the achievement and hard work that led to this significant honor for the recipient.

Akabe also emphasized that the Nasarawa state government prioritizes health and education.

He stated that these two sectors are regarded as fundamental to the development and well-being of the community, reflecting the administration's commitment to improving access to essential services and fostering a better future for its citizens.

In his speech, Mr. Zari Solomon, Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Lafia, stated they were at the Deputy Governor's office to present the award to Kelechi, a graduate of the school. He assured the Nasarawa State government that the college would maintain high standards by graduating students who demonstrate strong ethics and professionalism. He mentioned that they are committed to reflecting the institution's dedication to preparing its graduates to excel in their careers and contribute positively to their communities.
