Abia Govt Suspends Projects in Nkpa, Umuokpara sites

The Abia State Government through the Ministry of Lands and Housing has halted all allocations for project sites at Nkpa in Bende LGA and Umuopara in Umuahia South LGA until the projects are fully and properly regularized.

This information was revealed by the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije, in a press release issued to journalists in Umuahia.

The Commissioner stated that all transactions related to these allocations are now on hold until further notice. He also said measures are being taken to ensure necessary regulatory processes are completed and that the projects meet all required standards before any further allocations are made.

The public is urged to strictly follow this directive. He mentioned that the suspension underscores the government's dedication to ensuring effective oversight and adherence to regulatory standards for land management and development.

"It is essential for all individuals and entities involved to comply with the established guidelines and be patient as they await additional updates on the status of their land allocations. This measure is part of a broader effort to uphold regulatory compliance and manage land resources responsibly. Everyone is expected to cooperate fully and stay informed about any further developments or instructions related to their land allocations", He added.

Furthermore, he stated that the individuals assigned land in Phase 1 and 2 of Valley View Estate in Umuahia North LGA have not adhered to the agreed-upon terms and conditions, leading to the cancellation of their allocations.

The Commissioner explained that the government’s decision was due to the allottees’ failure, refusal, and neglect to adhere to the terms and conditions of their offer. He noted that the land allocation offers had expired and were no longer valid.

Recall that the Abia State Government established a Committee on Recovery of Government Properties to reclaim assets owned by the government and revoke properties that have been underutilized.
