APGA, ADC Candidates Reject Results Of Imo LG Polls


The candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Isiala Mbano and Ikeduru Local Government Areas of Imo State have rejected the results of the local government council election held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the state.


Briefing journalists in Owerri, the state capital on Monday, September 23, 2024, the APGA and ADC candidates made it clear that elections did not hold in any of the polling booths in the two local government areas.


They therefore called on the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to fix a new date for the conduct of elections in the two local government areas as soon as possible.

Hear them; "We dissociate ourselves from any figures or results as we can't lay claims to results from an election that did not hold


"Voting materials didn't not get to any polling booth, no voters register was pasted and no ISIEC staff was sighted at any polling booth in our local government areas.


The candidates present at the press briefing were Dr. Sharon Chidiebere Ohaka, APGA Chairmanship Candidate for Isiala Mbano Local Government Area,; Hon Princess Uzogo, APGA Chairmanship candidate for Ikeduru Local Government Area; and Hon. Collins Osuagwu, ADC Chairmanship candidate for Isiala Mbano LGA 


Others were Hon. Paul Iwuegbu, Councillorship candidate of APGA for Osuowerre Ward 1, Macdonald Ikeji, Councillorship candidate of APGA for Osuowerre Ward 2; Hon Stanley Chimankpa Obi, APGA Councillorship candidate for Osuachara Ward; Hon. Innocent Ahamefula, ADC Councilorship Candidate for Ugiri/Oka Ward and

Hon Emenalom Christian, ADC Councilorship Candidate for Ogbor Ward.


The rest were Hon. Basil Eziaghala ADC Councilorship Candidate for Osu Owerri Ward 1; Hon Kingsley Esiowu ADC Councilorship Candidate for Osuachara Ward; Hon Ubochi Paul Chimezie ADC Councilorship Candidate for Amauzari Ward; Hon Angela Anaekwe ADC Councilorship Candidate for Umuozu Ward and Hon. Chinonso Nwachukwu ADC Councilorship Candidate for Obollo Ward.


The Chairman of ISIEC, Chief Charles Ejiogu had on Sunday night announced the results of the polls.


According to him, the All Progressives Congress APC recorded a landslide victory at the polls.


Chief Ejiogu said the party won all the 27 chairmanship and vice chairmanship seats as well as the 305 councillorship seats in the state.


No other political parties clinch any seat in the local government councils.
