Governor-elect of the just concluded Edo State gubernatorial election, Monday Okpebholo, has promised to take the state to an enviable height including policies that will benefit the people, when he assumes office.
He made the assertion while addressing reporters on Sunday evening after he was declared winner of the election. Okpebholo appreciated the people of the state for choosing the ‘right person’ to govern them for the next four years.
He also vowed to continue from where the former governor Adams Oshiomhole stopped and would replicate what Senate President Godswill Akpabio did in Akwa Ibom State.
Okpebholo said, “I am very happy, and I thank the Edo people for choosing the right person to do the job. Look, the new Edo is rising. I am here to develop Edo. I want to transform Edo the way it should be.
“I want to tell you that I am starting from where Adams Oshiomhole stopped. I also want to let you also know that I would like to imitate what Akpabio has done in Akwa Ibom State. Edo has received a new transformation. By the grace of God, Edo is back again.”
Earlier Senator Adams Oshiomole, t representing Edo North Senatorial District and former governor of Edo State expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Edo State 2024 gubernatorial election.
Oshiomole, a member of the APC and a major stakeholder in the Edo Election while speaking with newsmen after the results were announced beamed with joy said ''everything and anything God cannot do does not exist.''
The Senator has been a major champion of Okpebholo's emergence as APC governorship candidate and his victory in the highly contested race.
He said "Listen very well, Everything and anything that God cannot do does not exist and that is why when ordinary men and women boast of their power those with wisdom know that power resides only with God.
"And those who win with undivided hearts are only the few that God has so anointed and that is why when some people say election is a do or die, we say no. It's about choice, it's about the power of the ordinary citizen to hire and fire people who sign death sentence.
