The Bayelsa State government under Governor Douye Diri has reaffirmed its dedication to transforming the state through massive infrastructure development, despite challenging terrain.

The Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, emphasized this during an inspection tour of key project sites in Yenagoa, organized by the Government New Media team.

Koku-Obiyai expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of ongoing projects, particularly the dualization of the Opolo Market Road.

She urged residents to support the administration’s efforts and maintain the cleanliness of the market area to ensure the durability of the infrastructure.

She noted that aside from the Opolo-Elebele road, a rapid progress is made at the Nembe-Brass project site and other ongoing projects initiated by the Douye Diri administration.

At the site of the Nembe-Brass Road, Dr. Kolawole Oredipe, Director-General of New Media, highlighted the uniqueness of the project, describing it as a road being “built on water.” He praised Governor Diri for prioritizing the development of the Bayelsa East Senatorial District, stressing that the road is crucial for unlocking the region’s economic potential.

Engr. Hazem Najjar, Project Manager for Setraco, provided technical updates, noting that the 21-kilometer first phase is progressing smoothly. With 5 kilometers already asphalted and sand filling nearly complete, the project, featuring ten bridges, is on track for completion within three years.

Residents of Nembe and Brass, including Abel Ifiemi and Wanaemi Trust, expressed gratitude to Governor Diri, highlighting the transformative impact the road will have on their communities. Traders at Opolo Market also lauded the dualization project, pledging their support for the administration.
