The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to improve and level up its efforts of development in the Niger Delta.
MOSIEND expressed dissatisfaction over NDDC's current approach to programs and training, noting a lack of collaboration with state offices that have a better and deeper understanding of local needs.
The statement signed by the chairman of MOSIEND Central Zone, Comrade Tari Zidougha, was released on Sunday, where he urged NDDC to decentralize its training initiatives to make allowance for states to contribute their inputs in order for Bayelsans and other states in the Niger Delta to have their fair share.
The statement said that rather than having the training programmes and activities solely from headquarters where officials may lack full knowledge and understanding of the needs of the indigenes, NDDC should focus more on working with the states directly for effective delivery of programs and strategies.
Comrade Zidougha, further condemned situations where aides of the Managing Director of the NDDC, hijack training benefits and slots that were meant for Bayelsans.
He also noted that MOSIEND will no longer condole any interference from the board, while also urging the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, to caution his aides against meddling with training benefits and slots allocated to Bayelsans and deal more with the state office.
The MOSIEND Central Zone Chairman stressed the need for more collaboration, inclusivity and consultation to ensure NDDC's initiatives effectively address the unique challenges of the Niger Delta region.
The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) , is a non governmental group and political organisation focused on advocating for peaceful coexistence amongst the nine Niger Delta states and enforcement of developmental strides in the Delta region.
It also aims at serving as a cog in the march towards genuine democracy in Nigeria, ultimately.
Over the years, the Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has contributed to the development of the Niger Delta region by inter-mediating with key agencies and boards like the NDDC to act up to it's saddled responsibilities.
