Imo CP Commiserates With Families Of Slain PG, Six Others

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, on Sunday, August 4, conducted an on-site assessment of the Umucheke Okwe Community in the Onuimo Local Government Area, following a devastating attack on the community recently.


Recall that on Saturday, August 3, hoodlums brutally murdered the community's President General, Hyginus Ohazuruike, and six village heads.


The commissioner was joined on the visit by a delegation of top security officials, including Major AI Maikarifi, representing the Commander of the 34 Field Artillery Brigade, Matthew Ovye, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and representatives from other security agencies.


The Sole Administrator, SOLAD, Emeka Obi also joined the CP's team during the condolence visit.

CP Danjuma commiserated with the families of the slain community leaders including the entire community, urging them to bear the deaths with fortitude. He also assured the community that security operatives would apprehend the killers of the community leaders.


A statement signed by the police public relations officer, ASP Henry Okoye said: "Today, 04/8/2024, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma together with the Sole Administrator of Onuimo LGA Dr. Emeka Obi, representative of the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Major AI Maikarifi, Commandant NSCDC, Comdt. Mathew Ovye and other security agencies visited Umucheke Community in Onuimo LGA for an on-the-spot assessment of the tragic incident that claimed the lives of over 8 members of Eze Umucheke Cabinet yesterday who were gruesomely murdered by hoodlums suspected to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN.


"CP Aboki Danjuma commiserated with the families of the bereaved and the entire community members over the unfortunate death of their loved ones and assured them that security agencies in the State are working in synergy to apprehend the miscreants responsible for the dastardly act and make them face the full wrath of the law."


Imo state last week witnessed bloodletting with no fewer than five policemen and 10 civilians killed by hoodlums.

On Monday, July 29, four cops were killed at Irete Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen who killed the four cops also shot dead a female Point-of-Sale PoS operator.


Gunmen also on Monday killed one person and set a vehicle ablaze at Umuelemai in Isiala Mbano LGA of the State.

On Tuesday, some hirelings killed a businessman, Okey Nze, popularly known as Wealthy Empire, at Amawire in the Orji Community in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.


They also shot dead same Tuesday a policeman identified as OC Ireozor and a community chief, Paulinus Mbakwe at Nworieubi Community in the Mbaitoli LGA of the state.
