Tragedy has struck Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike, in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, where a young man, Chikwado Eze, lost his life during a botched fortification ritual performed by a native doctor.
Chikwado, who had recently secured a visa for an overseas trip, returned home to share the exciting news with his father, Mr. Uwakwe Eze. However, the celebration took a dark turn when Chikwado reportedly sought a ritual fortification from the native doctor, which ended in his untimely death.
"He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors confirmed him dead on arrival," a source revealed. "His remains have been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy."
In a shocking twist, the native doctor is said to have confessed to the crime, admitting to not only performing the ill-fated ritual but also conducting similar rituals in the past. He blamed Chikwado's death on "non-compliance with specific ritual instructions" he had given him earlier.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that an investigation is ongoing. "The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is completed," Ndukwe stated.
