NCDMB Set To Take Center Stage At 2024 PNC Conference

Nigeria’s oil and gas industry will witness a major gathering of key stakeholders, including ministers, lawmakers, and sector leaders, when the 13th Practical Nigerian Content (PNC) Conference and Exhibition takes place in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, from December 2 to 5, 2024. The conference, set against the backdrop of the Nigerian Content Tower, will focus on the theme "Deepening the Next Frontier for Nigerian Content Implementation." It aims to accelerate the development of local content within Nigeria's crucial oil and gas sector, fostering both growth and innovation.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) announced on their official social media handle that the event will kick off with a golf tournament at the Henry Seriake Golf and Country Club in Yenagoa on December 2, followed by a welcome reception at Best Western Hotel in Swali, hosted by Coleman Wires and Cables.

The formal opening on December 3 will feature an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers. Key figures, including Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of NCDMB; Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC); Engr. Farouk Ahmed, CEO of the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA); and Mr. Mele Kolo Kyari, Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), are set to address the attendees. Along with them, Nigeria's Ministers of Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, will deliver addresses, as will Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power. Legislators such as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Hon. Boma Goodhead, who chair key committees on local content, will also participate.

The conference will offer a platform for rich discussions on critical issues within the oil and gas sector. Focus will be placed on the challenges and opportunities surrounding divestments, offshore ventures, and the financial strategies required to fuel local content growth. Leading industry figures, including Jim Swartz, Chairman of Chevron Nigeria; Mr. Wale Tinubu, CEO of Oando PLC; and Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO), will guide these discussions.

In addition to addressing local content within Nigeria, the event will explore the potential for expanding Nigerian content globally. Sessions will also emphasize the importance of community development and translating policy into practical, actionable solutions that can drive economic growth. The NCDMB is expected to announce new policies aimed at enhancing local content, while an exhibition will showcase the latest technologies and innovations from both indigenous and international companies, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Networking opportunities will be abundant, with gala dinners hosted by the Bayelsa State Government and Nigeria LNG Ltd. Delegates will also have the chance to visit the First Marine and Engineering Services Ltd’s logistics base in Swali, Yenagoa, for a firsthand look at the company’s operations.

The 13th Practical Nigerian Content Conference promises to be a transformative event, providing a crucial platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the development of strategies that will drive Nigeria’s local content agenda forward. With a focus on local capacity building, economic growth, and technological innovation, the conference will play a significant role in solidifying Nigeria’s standing as a leader in the global oil and gas industry.
