Ribadu Charges PAP Scholarship Beneficiaries on Academic Excellence

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has called on students benefiting from the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) scholarship scheme to excel academically and set a standard of excellence in their respective universities.

Speaking at the orientation programme held in Warri for 1,700 newly enrolled scholarship beneficiaries for the 2024/2025 academic session, Ribadu, represented by his Special Assistant on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Goodluck Ebelo, emphasized the transformative potential of education.

He urged the students to maximize this opportunity not only to improve their personal prospects but also to contribute to Nigeria’s development after graduation.

“With this scholarship, you have a unique chance to shine in your academic pursuits,” Ribadu said. “Be exemplary students in your institutions, as the expectations from you are high. Your education is a gateway to fostering national growth and development, so make the most of it.”

The PAP Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, in his keynote address, highlighted the significance of the initiative in strengthening human capital development in the Niger Delta.

According to him, the scholarship scheme is a pivotal intervention designed to uplift indigent youths from communities impacted by the region's challenges, giving them access to formal education and brighter futures.

“This scholarship is a strategic step to deepen the Niger Delta’s educational trajectory and bridge the human capital development gap,” Dr. Otuaro said.

“The selection process was transparent and thorough, and I take full responsibility for ensuring fairness and meritocracy in the process. We have deployed 1,700 beneficiaries this academic session, and I am committed to maintaining high standards throughout my leadership.”

Dr. Otuaro encouraged the students to serve as peace ambassadors for the Niger Delta, urging them to focus on their studies, shun cultism, and adhere to their institutions’ rules to graduate with both academic excellence and strong moral character.

Grateful scholarship recipients, including Blessing Appollos (Bayelsa State, Igbinedion University), Fyneman John-Pere (Edo State, Edwin Clark University), and Ezekiel Appeal (Delta State, Novena University), expressed their appreciation to the PAP leadership.

They noted that the initiative would significantly support their educational pursuits and future aspirations.

The orientation programme showed the PAP’s ongoing commitment to empowering the youth of the Niger Delta and fostering long-term development in the region.
