U.S Election 2024: Global Leaders Congratulate Trump On Electoral Victory

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other global leaders extended congratulations to Donald Trump on his victory in the fiercely contested 2024 U.S. presidential election. Although the final tally was not yet officially called, Trump’s lead in key battleground states signaled an undeniable edge, leading to early accolades from leaders worldwide.

Appearing before a crowd of jubilant supporters in Florida, the 78-year-old Republican candidate declared victory as votes continued to be counted, stating that America had handed him “an unprecedented and powerful mandate.” Trump, projected to win 267 electoral college votes—just three shy of the critical 270 threshold—seemed poised to clinch the presidency, while his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, lagged behind with 224 votes.

Claiming that the Republican campaign represented “the greatest political movement of all time,” Trump’s speech was marked by bold promises to mend America’s borders, bring unity to the nation, and safeguard American families. “We made history for a reason tonight,” he proclaimed. “We have achieved the most incredible political win. I want to thank the American people. I will fight for you and your family with every breath in my body.”

Trump went further, suggesting that his electoral count could even surge to a formidable 315 votes—a sweeping endorsement that would affirm the American people’s confidence in his return to the White House.

In a congratulatory statement from Nigeria’s presidential office, President Tinubu hailed Trump’s victory as a sign of renewed possibilities between Nigeria and the U.S. He expressed optimism for “strengthening the ties” between the two nations, particularly in an era of global complexities. “Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens,” Tinubu stated.

President Tinubu praised Trump’s experience as the 45th U.S. president, expressing confidence that his return as the 47th would mark a transformative chapter in Africa-U.S. relations, with new, mutually beneficial partnerships on the horizon. He also underscored America’s unique influence on global affairs and expressed hope that Trump’s leadership would contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous world.
