Abure's LP Submits Candidates For Abia LG Election

The Julius Abure-led Labour Party (LP), has officially submitted its candidate list for the 2024 Local Government Elections in Abia State to the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC).

A letter from Hon. Ceekay Igara, Chairman of the Abia State Local Government Election screening Committee, and Prince G.O. Ndubueze, Secretary of the committee, officially confirmed the submission on October 4, 2024.

The candidates aim to secure local government positions in various Chairmanship and Councillorship roles across the state.

The letter indicated that the list features candidates who won the party's primaries, as previously mentioned. It was officially received by ABSIEC, confirming the Labour Party's preparedness for the upcoming local elections.

Given the factional issues within the Abia State chapter of the Labour Party, another list of candidates is anticipated to be submitted to ABSIEC soon.

On Monday, our correspondent reported that the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State is experiencing crisis ahead of the November local government elections, with rival factions holding parallel primary elections.

In an interview in Umuahia, Ceekay Igara had stated that his committee had conducted a primary election and was awaiting approval from the National Executive Committee before submitting it to the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC).
