The Action People's Party (APP) has emerged victorious in 22 of the 23 Local Government Areas in the hotly contested local government elections in Rivers State. The results were announced by the Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Justice Adolphus Enebeli, on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
While the APP dominated the election, the announcement of the results for Etche Local Government Area has been suspended, with Justice Enebeli stating that collation is still ongoing. The results for Etche, along with the 319 councillorship seats, will be declared at a later date.
