With days to the conduct of the October 5, 2024 local government election in Rivers State, more political parties have continued to express confidence in what would be the outcome of the electoral process.
The Chairmanship candidate of the Labour Party for Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, PHALGA, Chioma Chinwo said he is confident that Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC would live true to their repeated assurances of conducting a free, fair and credible council election on October, 5.
Chioma Chinwo pleaded with all stakeholders not to engage in the imposition of candidates on the people in the forthcoming LGA elections.
The Chairmanship hopeful in Port Harcourt City LGA, Chioma Chinwo said that if elected as the next Mayor of Port Harcourt, his administration would focus on human capacity development and eliminate touting in the city.
Similarly, the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Rivers State is applauding the commitment of the Rivers State Government and the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC to conduct a free, credible, and acceptable local government election in the state.
The Chairman of the ADC in Rivers State, Lawrence Ode-Egbagiri said this in an interview with journalists shortly after the party's strategic meeting and inauguration of the LGA Chairmen of the party in Port Harcourt.
Lawrence Egbagiri also declared that the party is set to participate and achieve victory in the forthcoming council elections in Rivers State.
The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Rivers State, Lawrence Ode-Egbagiri insisted that the ADC under his leadership is the authentic State Working Committee of ADC.
He said the National body of the party and the RSIEC duly recognize his executive council. Some members of ADC spoke on their expectations and state of preparedness going into the October 5, council elections.
“As a party, we are all simplified and we are working with the Governor in preparation for the forthcoming election scheduled for October 5, 2024. All our candidates that emerged from our party primaries have been screened by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC. As a party we are 100 percent ready to participate in the forthcoming elections” he said.
