Eminem's Mother, Debbie Nelson, Dies at 69

Debbie Nelson, the mother of iconic rapper Eminem, passed away on December 2, 2024, at 69, following complications from lung cancer. Known for her tumultuous relationship with Eminem, Nelson’s life inspired many of his most controversial tracks, including Cleanin’ Out My Closet.

Nelson raised Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, as a single mother after his father left. Despite their fallout, she described their early bond as inseparable in her 2008 memoir, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.

The pair had a publicized feud, with Nelson even suing her son for defamation in the late 1990s. However, she expressed pride in his success in a heartfelt message during his 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Her passing marks the end of a complex chapter in Eminem’s life, with fans reflecting on her influence on his music and career.
