TikTok has intensified its efforts to create a safer platform for Nigerian users, removing over 2.1 million videos that violated its community guidelines.
The social media giant's latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report reveals impressive stats: 99.1% of removed videos were proactively detected before user reports, 90.7% taken down within 24 hours, and less than 1% of total Nigerian uploads affected.
Globally, TikTok removed 178 million videos in June 2024, with automated systems driving 144 million removals.
"TikTok prioritizes user safety," said a spokesperson. "We'll continue investing in content moderation technologies."
This move reinforces TikTok's commitment to transparency and platform security. With 1.5 billion users worldwide, including millions in Nigeria, the platform's proactive approach is reassuring.
