The Nigeria Immigration Service on Monday named social media personality, Okuneye Idris, otherwise known as Bobrisky, as a person of interest in an ongoing probe.
It also confirmed that its officers intercepted Idris at the Sème border while trying to flee the country earlier today.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that OKUNEYE IDRIS is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern,” a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, on Monday evening.
The statement is titled ‘Nigeria Immigration Service Intercepts Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) at Sème bordering attempting to flee the country.’
Bobrisky who is currently ensnared in an ongoing investigation by a committee of the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service over allegations concerning bribery, was reportedly trying to flee.
An Immigration source at the Nigerian-Benin Republic border has spoken about how controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky was arrested during passport checks at the Seme border.
The Immigration source told their publication that Bobrisky was arrested at midnight and detained until this morning, and has been moved to the Lagos zone of the NIS in Ikeja.
''He was arrested at midnight and detained until this morning, and he’s currently being moved to the Lagos zone of the NIS in Ikeja. He gave his passport to someone to stamp it for him, so, the officer saw the name immediately among others and requested that he should come down from the vehicle.” the source said.
Meanwhile the NIS in its statement on Monday said “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an
attempt to exit the country.
“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s borders.”
Prior to the announcement by NIS, social media influencer Martins Otse Vincent popularly known as VERYDARKMAN aka VDM shared a video on his instagram page today confirming Bobrisky’s arrests and daring him to deny the claims.
