A widow in Mgbidi Community in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State has raised the alarm over attempt by kinsmen to dispossess her of the land her daughter bought for her.

Speaking to our correspondent on Tuesday, Madam Nonyerem Mercy Chukwuma, alleged that some relatives of the person who sold the land to her are claiming that it belongs to them.
According to the widow, her daughter Chidinma bought the land at the sum of Ten million Naira (N10,000,000) and has all necessary documents to prove ownership.
She added that the said parcel of land known is situated at Umudumiri Umuabiahu Mgbidi.
The retired teacher further disclosed that the people who want the land are threatening to take drastic measures against her if she doesn't surrender the land.
The widow appealed to the traditional ruler, religious leaders, town union authorities, and Sole Administrator of Oru West to intervene in the matter.
She stated that her daughter has the legal right to own and occupy the land, adding that she has been farming on the land for close to two years.
She further disclosed that the land was sold to her daughter by one Mr Iwu-Orizu Joseph Chike Major, of Umuabiahu, Mgbidi in Oru West LGA of Imo State, stressing that they didn't encounter any problem while buying the land.
In a telephone interview, Mr Iwu-Orizu Joseph confirmed selling the land to Chidinma Nwamaka Cjukwuma, daughter of Madam Nonyerem Mercy Chukwuma.
Joseph, who said he is the rightful owner of the land described those who are claiming ownership of the land as intruders.
He vowed he would go to any length in ensuring that the interest of the buyer is protected.
